This paper reports a wrist-worn, high-performance hybrid (electromagnetic and triboelectric) energy harvester to effectively scavenge the induced energy from the natural movement of human wrist under low frequency range (≤ 5 Hz). The proposed energy harvester generates power based on the principle of rolling electrostatic induction and electromagnetic induction using a spherical magnetic ball, which can move freely inside a hollow circular tube when a vibration excitation is applied on the device. Triboelectric material that can be fabricated easily and quickly with 3D printer has been used to implement triboelectric energy harvester, and flexible flux concentration materials has been used to improve the power performance of electromagnetic energy harvester. The as-fabricated harvester prototype can generate a maximum average power density of 0.118 mW/cm3 and was succeeded to continuously operate a commercial wrist watch for more than 23 minutes through a wrist movement for only 5 seconds.
