Development of Highly Roughened Porous Au Electrode with Pt Nano-particle for Electrochemical Sensor Applications

Highly roughened coral-like porous Au electrode with electroplated Pt nano-particles was newly developed and characterized. The porosity and window-pore size of the fabricated porous Au electrode were approximately 50% and 100-300 nm, respectively. The electroplated Pt nano-particle size was approximately 5-10 nm. For miniaturized electrochemical and biochemical sensor applications, the fabricated Au-Pt nano-electrode was characterized in sulfuric acid and H 2 O 2 solutions. It showed extremely large sensitivity of 0.166 mA/mMmiddotcm 2 , excellent linearity of 0.989, and surface roughness factor of 488, which were the highest values in the previously reported ones.
